Visit Us in Our Sleep

With everything going on in our world right now – chaos, division, wars…there are voices everywhere.

Everyone claims to have the truth.

Every platform insists it sees clearly.

Every headline demands a reaction.

But I don’t want truth filtered or my perspective shaped through the media.

I want to see through God's lens.

I want Him to meet us in our sleep and show us His truth.

Because I know how easy it is to absorb things that sound right, but aren’t rooted in Him.

How quickly fear can disguise itself as discernment.

How outrage can masquerade as righteousness.

How repetition can make something feel true, even when it isn’t.

So tonight, instead of staying up trying to sort it all out, I’m praying something different.

Lord,

Visit us in our sleep. Correct what we’ve absorbed that isn’t true. Expose what we’ve believed that isn’t from You. Calm what has been stirred by fear. Strengthen what is rooted in You.

Where we’ve partnered with anxiety, break it. Where we’ve entertained deception, reveal it. Where we’ve let division harden us, soften us.

And Lord… visit those who may have been deceived.

Not with shame.

Not with humiliation.

But with light.

Open our eyes gently.

Untangle confusion mercifully.

Replace fear with clarity.

If we are wrong, correct us.

But let truth rise without pride on either side.

You promise in Isaiah 26:3 that You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in You.

Make our minds steadfast.

Psalm 4:8 says,

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

Teach us how to sleep in peace when the world feels unstable.

Guard our children from confusion.

Guard our homes from fear.

Guard our churches from deception.

Guard our hearts from bitterness.

If there is truth we need to see, show us.

If there is darkness that needs light, expose it. But do not let us be discipled by chaos.

Visit us in our sleep, Lord.

Let us wake up clearer.

Humbler.

Anchored.

At peace.

Amen.
