MOTHERS

Some women give birth.

Some women raise children they did not carry.

Some women mother through mentorship, friendship, fostering, adoption, teaching, loving, praying, protecting, showing up, and helping hold broken pieces together when life falls apart.

Some women become “Mom” to people who simply needed someone safe, and I think that kind of love deserves to be honored too.

I’ve been thinking about how many women quietly carry the emotional weight of everyone around them.

The women who remember the little things.

The women who stay up worrying.

The women who pray for everyone else before themselves.

The women who hold families together with tired hands and faithful hearts.

The women who show up even when they themselves are running on empty.

So many of them will downplay what they carry.

“It’s just what moms do.”

But I don’t think we say thank you enough.

Not just for the tasks.

Not just for the meals, rides, laundry, schedules, and responsibilities, but for the emotional labor. The invisible nurturing. The constant giving. The way a loving woman can make people feel safe simply because she walked into the room.

And I also know Mother’s Day can feel complicated for some.

For the women grieving.
The women longing.
The women estranged.
The women carrying invisible ache.
The women who poured deeply into others and wonder if anyone noticed.

I hope today reminds you that love is never wasted.

Not the late nights.

Not the prayers.

Not the sacrifices.

Not the tenderness.

Not the years you spent helping others feel seen.

It mattered.

You mattered.

And whether you are a biological mother, adoptive mother, bonus mom, spiritual mother, grandmother, mentor, foster mom, or simply a woman whose love has helped carry others through life…

Thank you.

The world is softer, safer, and stronger because of women who love like that.

Happy Mother’s Day!
