Is God Still Good If the Miracle Doesn’t Come?

Every now and then I’ll come across a testimony that leaves me smiling through tears.

A clear scan.
A restored marriage.
A financial breakthrough.
A child who comes back to Jesus.
A doctor walking into the room saying, “We were wrong.”

I love those stories.

I celebrate every single one of them because I believe with all my heart that God still performs miracles. He’s the same God who opened blind eyes, raised the dead, calmed storms, and healed the sick. He hasn’t changed.

But if I’m honest…Sometimes those stories are also hard to hear.

Not because I’m jealous of someone else’s miracle, but because I’m still waiting for one of my own. When you’re walking through a long season of unanswered prayers, it’s easy to begin asking questions you never thought you’d ask.

Why them?

Why not me?

Did I not have enough faith?

Did I miss something?

Those questions don’t make you faithless. They make you human.

Somewhere along the way, many of us unknowingly began measuring God’s goodness by our circumstances.

If the test comes back clear, God is good.

If the treatment works, God is good.

If the relationship is restored, God is good.

But what happens when none of those things happen?

Is He suddenly less faithful?

Less loving?

Less present?

No.

God’s character has never been determined by my circumstances.

He was good before Lazarus walked out of the tomb.

He was good while Mary and Martha were grieving.

He was good on Friday before Resurrection Sunday ever came.

His goodness doesn’t rise and fall with my outcomes. It remains steady because it is rooted in who He is, not in what He does for me.

That doesn’t mean waiting is easy. Waiting is one of the hardest classrooms of faith.

It’s where hope wrestles with disappointment.

Where prayers feel repetitive.

Where tears become familiar.

Where you continue believing even when nothing around you has changed, and maybe that’s where some of the deepest faith is born.

Not in the celebration after the miracle, but in the quiet whisper that says,

“I still trust You here.”

I’m still believing God for healing.

I’m still praying.

I’m still asking.

Because I know He is able.

But while I wait, I’m choosing not to let unanswered prayers rewrite what I already know to be true.

God is still good.

He is still faithful.

He is still worthy of my worship.

Whether I receive the miracle today, years from now, or on the day I finally see Him face to face, His goodness has never been in question, because the greatest miracle was never simply that He heals bodies.

It’s that through Jesus, He heals hearts, redeems lives, forgives sinners, and promises that one day every disease, every tear, every heartbreak, and every unanswered prayer will finally be made whole.

Until then…I’ll celebrate every testimony I hear.

I’ll rejoice with those who rejoice, and I’ll keep lifting my own prayers toward heaven, believing that even while I’m waiting…

God is still good.
